Nobel Beach Facility
The Municipality of McDougall has received $100,000 from the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund through FedNor to provide upgrades to the Nobel Beach Facility. The upgrades at the Nobel Beach Facility will include, four individual change rooms, two full service washrooms, a staff/instructors office, and utility room. The design includes an internal covered walkway in the middle of the structure to be available as quick shelter for beach users in case of storms as well as a covered veranda area with a view to the waterfront.

Foley Agricultural Hall
There will be another big renovation project taking place in Seguin Township this year. Seguin has received $425,000 in FedNor funding to renovate the Foley Agricultural Hall (Foley Community Centre). The funding will allow Seguin to fully refurbish the Hall into a new community facility by renovating the Hall, as well as the addition of a new library resource centre, Agricultural Society office, and meeting rooms.

Family-owned Eagle Aircraft Inc. is expanding its Toronto Island business by moving to the Parry Sound Area Municipal Airport. The building is being built by Seguin Township, through funds from FedNor. Seguin Township received $484,650 to extend fire suppression services at the airport and construct a new 10,000 sqaure-foot hangar, which will be leased to Eagle Aircraft Inc. The funding is provided through FedNor’s Northern Ontario Development Program, which supports projects that strengthen community economic development, enhance business development and growth, and facilitate innovation throughout the region. This will open up new job opportunities and is the most recent of many businesses locating around the airport in recent years.

Assisted Living Facility
In early 2013, the Town of Parry Sound accepted a proposal from York Region Health Care Developments Inc., after a public Request for Proposal (RFP) process was issued, for the development and operation of an ‘Assisted Living’ facility in Parry Sound. The development will see the construction of 60-80 suites, consisting of a mix of Independent Supported Living and Assisted Living. York Health Care Developments Inc. will purchase the 6 acres north of Canadore College in Parry Sound from the Town of Parry Sound in the amount of $250,000 and will be responsible for all development costs.
The development of this facility will create approximately 40 jobs, as well as the construction jobs in the development of the property. York Health Care Developments Inc.’s construction schedule would see the Assisted Living facility opening in summer/fall 2014.

Assisted Living Facility in Parry Sound
Outpost Media Inc.
Outpost Media Inc. is a production and post production company that has established an office in Parry Sound over the last few years. The company shoots a wide range of films, from action thrillers to comedies. Outpost Media works on most of the movies shot in the Parry Sound Area. Three movies were shot in the area during winter 2012/2013.

Silver Birch Condominiums
Silver Birch Condominiums is located in the north end of Parry Sound, just off William Street. Silver Birch is located in a park-like setting, close to the Seguin River and Mill Lake. These condos are specifically designed to meet the needs of young families and active retirees.
Silver Birch Condominiums is a phased, four-unit development project feautring 24 units per building. Phase 1 was completed in the spring of 2011 and it has continued to grow. Canadore College, West Parry Sound Campus
In May 2009, Canadore College received $6.2 million from FedNor and the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities to build a 14,000 square-foot satellite campus in Parry Sound. The College offered its first full time programming in the new building in September 2011. There is expanded choice of programs – from adult upgrading, practical nursing and personal support worker and continuing education classes to include ecotourism and Indigenous pre-health studies, which began in September 2012.
